Hello family, friends and sorella hashey fans!
This week has been another wonderful week! I had a great Christmas week and I do have to say, Christmas in the MTC is pretty unique and something to remember for sure. Christmas Eve was my favorite--We had a musically infused Christmas Eve Fireside put on by the MTC Presidency and then had a missionary talent show that was pretty fun and got pretty wordly at times, I do have to say. haha. After the Fireside, all of the Italian Sorelle went back to the classroom, shut off the lights and gathered around our miniature, dwarf-sized Christmas tree(cheesy I know). But it was fun. We talked about and did some of our favorite Christmas traditions--definitely not leaving out the jesus stocking mom! Everyone loved it. I didn't have the guiness book of world records to calm my anxiety this year though. christmas day was wonderful. Elder L. Tom Perry came for the morningside devotional and Elder Anderson came earlier in the week on Tuesday. It amazes me when they take time away from their families--and even bring them sometimes to speak to the missionaries on holidays. Elder Anderson actually brought a bunch of his family and so his grandchildren sang "Picture a Christmas"--a primary song--for us. Oh, and mom, Elder Anderson's wife reminds me of you. She is so cute and just the way she tells stories made me think of you. Everyday here at the MTC is an adventure. This past week, Sorella Lloyd was sick for 4 days so Sorella Naslund and I would switch on and off staying in the room with her. It was nice because I was able to get a lot of personal study time in. We've made friends with the Health Clinic people this past week to say the least. Our Italian district is dwindling in numbers--yesterday half of the Italians left for Italy (which means there are only 5 of us left). We'll be getting another sister tomorrow who's going to Italy so I'm excited to meet her. Sorella Lloyd and Sorella Naslund and I have been having a lot of fun together. There is never a dull moment. Last night, Sorella Naslund(the one from Sweden) made a sign for our door that says: "The Italian Sorelle--Sorella Lloyd: the Oracle (because she's an English major and likes to use big words), Sorella Hashey: The Guru (I guess because they think I'm a pro...boy do I have them fooled), and Sorella Naslund: The Swedish Princess (haha)." Sorella Naslund comes up with the funniest phrases sometimes. Last week she was dying laughing and I asked her why and she goes, "They called Jesus a BABE!...like he's Brad Pitt or something!". My week has been full of fun times. I hope everyone's enjoying this time of year!

Hello family and friends!
I'm so stressed right now...emailing is one of the most stressful things of the week for me because of this timer they have here at the mtc. I literally have to plan out what exactly I'm going to say before. It's been a really fun week for me. Last week, I got to be Sister Glaus' host sister and show her around the MTC for the first hour she was here. I picked her up from the curb and saw her and Bishop Glaus and literally jumped up and ran to her car so I could be the one who could be her host sister...haha. It was fun but I definitely led her astray all over the MTC campus because I still don't know my way around here. haha. (I know, embarassing. But that is just my directionally challenged self). I've started to speak a lot more Italian this week which has been quite funny. Sometimes I'm too hard on myself and forget that I've only been studying this language for a month but most of the time, I just laugh at myself for the funny things I say. I accidentally called one of the other district's teachers fat in Italian--that was funny and now he won't let me live it down. Anziano Cox and I taught our first lesson in Italian yesterday for 30 minutes! I was super nervous right before but it actually went really well and I was able to say what I wanted to so it was good. I think my voice is starting to get used to singing tenor with my teachers and Anziano Cox. We always start class by singing a hymn in Italian and a couple weeks ago, my teacher let me pick my favorite hymn--which just happens to be "As Sisters in Zion" and so I had both Anziano Cox and Fratello Welch (my teacher) singing it! haha. It was pretty funny. They were good sports about it but I haven't been asked to pick the hymn since. haha. President Uchtdorf's wife came this week for Relief Society--it was awesome and my goodness, she is the cutest and funniest German lady ever. It's fun to get to here from apostles wives. I love everything about the MTC--except for the food still. I thought it would be kinda like BYU-Idaho because it's run by the church, but it's different. I'm just so happy all the time and I'm surrounded by people who are the same way and plus, we're all missionaries--maybe that's the difference between the MTC and BYUI. Sometimes I walk around and see a few missionaries and forget where I'm at and that I'm a missionary too. It'll be neat to be here on Christmas. There's a whole different schedule planned for Christmas day and we won't have classes so it'll be a nice little change. The Italians (all 10 of us) are going to act out the Christmas story in Italian so that'll be fun and then we have a couple devotionals too. That's about all I know so far. I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season!

Ciao Ciao!
This has been another wonderful week at the MTC! I'm loving it here. I can't believe I'm already going on my 4th week here. The days are long(in a good way) but the weeks go so quickly. Sorella Prina (my companion after Sorella Miller) left for Milan, Italy this past week and now we have new Sister missionaries that are my companions so there's three of us. I go everywhere with them except to class which is a huge part of my day. The new Sisters are wonderful! Sorella Lloyd is from Sacramento, CA and Sorella Naslund is from Sweden( I call her my little Swedish fish. haha.) Although I didn't expect to have a new companion each week, I have actually enjoyed getting to know all of the other Sorelle. This week has been great Italian-wise. I feel like I can actually communicate now and my French is actually coming in handy because many of the words--especially verbs are similar. Yesterday at the Teaching Resource Center (where we teach a 30 minute gospel lesson to a volunteer investigator) I taught my first time in Italian! It was supposed to be my last week teaching in English but Anziano Cox, who I usually teach with, couldn't make it to our scheduled lesson time so I taught with some of the Sisters who've been here 3 weeks longer than I have. I didn't say a ton because I was super nervous and only found out 30 minutes before that I'd be teaching in Italian--but I taught the investigators how to pray and also bore my testimony. I've memorized the First Vision in Italian this past week and my goal for this next week is James 1:5 (Giacomo 1:5). Sister Elaine S. Dalton came to Relief Society this past Sunday which was AMAZING! She's the Young Women's General President and I've always loved listening to her talks at General conference. She talked about how everything that is written in the scriptures was written because of an anticipated event--the birth of Jesus Christ or the Second Coming. I thought of some of my "anticipated events" coming up and how important preparation is. I know that the preparation of the people before the birth of Christ was so important and I am excited to help in the preparation of people before he comes again. I'm excited for SESTRA GLAUS to join me this week here! I'll be a host sister tomorrow so I'll probably see her when her family drops her off. I feel like I'm rambling...So, everything's really been going well! I love it here and hope everyone at home is doing wonderful! I love you all!

Salve!
Hello Everyone,
Everything is going well! The MTC is a wonderful place to be and it's so routine with little spurts of random fun! I've learned so much this week and am excited for everything that's in front of me. I can't believe I'll be in Italy next month...weird huh?! Sorealla Miller and the 6 other missionaries left for Catania yesterday so now we only have 7 missionaries (5 sisters and 2 elders) and we're getting two more sisters tomorrow! Me and Anziano Cox are the only Catania missionaries. I sang in the MTC choir this past week which was amazing--""Behold the Wounds in Jesus' Hands". Look up the lyrics. They're amazing and so powerful. We taught a man yesterday about the gospel and it was amazing how applicable the gospel was to him...he had tears in his eyes by the end of the lesson. I'm just glad to be doing what the Lord would want me to do right now! I hope you all are having a wonderful Christmas season!

Loving it!
Hello everyone!
It's been another wonderful week here for me! Thanksgiving was great here at the MTC. On Tuesday we had Elder Oaks come and speak and then Thursday, Elder Holland! It was the most amazing thing to hear from apostles of the Lord...and two of them in a week! Later that day, we did a humanitarian service project. It was a great day and the food was actually better than normal so I'm definitely grateful for those people who took time away from their families to prepare it. The holidays I'd have to say is such a wonderful time for missionary work. Christmas lights are all over the MTC...it's beautiful. There's a christmas tree in the foyer of the MTC with all the country flags. So, The other day, Sorella Miller and I wanted to go get a picture with the italian flag. We took a picture with what we thought was the Italian flag and later that night, one of the teachers came up and looked at our name tags and was like, "Where are you sisters going?" We told him Catania, Italy and he was like, "Oh, ya...umm...the Italian flag and HUNGARIAN flag are similar. I saw you taking a picture with the hungarian flag and didn't know there were Sister missionaries going there..." haha. Ahh--embarrassing! I should probably learn what the Italian flag looks like before going, huh?! I was able to talk with a lady on the phone this past week asking her if she had received her Bible that we sent her. Ok wait, you need to know background on her. first off, her name was Eula Mae, from Jackson, Mississippi and 70 years old. CUTEST LADY IN THE WORLD. She said the missionaries had stopped by and we got to talk for about 5 minutes about what she learned in her "Bible study" as she called it. It was probably the highlight of my week. So much has happened this week! Italian is coming along. We speak mostly all Italian (as much as we can) to each other in class and at lunch. My only problem is rolling my R's. haha. It's been quite the task. But I'm learning...I walk around saying "troppo", "tres", "parlare" and any other R word I know to get it down. We've been learning a lot aobut teaching to the needs of the people. It's been neat to find out for myself how applicable the gospel is to everyone and every situation. I love everything I do. I love teaching and learning more about the gospel, I love bearing testimony every day in Italian, I love learning italian so that I can actually go back and talk to those nuns over in Italy (haha), I love going to the temple every week, I love testifying of truth, I love talking to people like EULA MAE about her Bible study, I love going to fireside/devotional twice a week and I love helping others through service. the best week of my life (and more to come!)
Ciao Tutti!
Holy Cow...this has been such a wonderful week! I just wrote an email and then got kicked off so here it goes again. This week has been great! A humbling experience for sure and they keep us pretty busy so it's good. I really can't even remember a whole lot of what happened, but I know I'm in the right place right now. The MTC is the best place I can be right now. Besides the food, the MTC is heaven. Let's just say, it's not exactly dad's cooking! I've learned so much and have so much more to learn! I can't wait for what next week has to bring. Italian is coming along...I can meet and greet people, understand mostly what others say when they speak, and say a basic prayer. There are only 14 Italians in the MTC (6 Sisters and 8 Elders) Does that equal 14? My math is not very good. Everyone here is super nice. All of the Italian Sisters are so nice and friendly and not weird. haha. seriously though. They are wonderful. I only have one other Elder in my class so it's just me and him because we were the only ones who came in the day we did. Well, that were Italian Missionaries. My companion is Sorella Miller. We actually knew each other from up at BYUI and she is a great missionary. She'll be off to Catania, Italy in two weeks! There were 700 other missionaries that came in the day we did. The spirit is so strong here. I love it so much. There were two things I wanted to do at BYUI that I never got to do--take religion class all day long and learn a foreigh language and I'm getting it all here so it's great! I love seeing Sister Conley (Paige) and Elder Glaus around. I also saw a picture of Sister Garff up on the wall so that was fun! This is about to kick me off so I've got to go. Just know that I'm in a wonderful place and preparing for an even MORE wonderful place to be in! I hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving!
